Crown Moulding FAQ
What materials do you offer?
All of our crown Molding are made from MDF. We do not offer Polyurethane or Plaster. The beauty of using MDF is that it is a very stable material that does not expand and contract as much as many other materials and when installed properly it will not expand and contract noticeably.
What size Crown Molding should I choose for my ceiling?
The size of the moulding will depend entirely on the height of the ceiling and the size of the room. Generally speaking, we recommend you install 5" cornice in an 8 foot high ceiling and a 7" cornice in a 9 foot ceiling. If you have taller ceilings, we can provide you with build ups which are made using 2 or 3 trims and can get up to 12" in width.
Do you charge for Corners or Over Height?
We charge a small fee for corners and anything over 12 feet in height. Coners are the most difficult and time consuming aspect of the installation and so we have to charge something for time and effort it takes to finish them properly. Anything over stairs is charged only because of the set up time and danger involved in installing crown moulding over a set of stairs.
What is the difference between Cornice and Crown Moldings?
Cornice is the actual name for ceiling trim whereas Crown Molding is the common term used for ceiling trim. It's kind of like "Facial Tissue" and "Kleenex", everyone always asks for a Kleenex to wipe their nose.
Is painting included in the price of installation?
NO, painting is not included in the installation price. We provide painting at an additional cost.
