Bead Board Wainscoting Installation
There are many different forms of paneling but the most common is Bead board. It is also called Cottage style or New England style paneling and is commonly found in Kitchens, Bathrooms, Mudrooms or homes where the comfortable country look is desired. Bead board can also be used when a wall is damaged and must be covered up completely or when a wall is unfinished and covered up to save time on finishing.
Our Plank Bead Board comes in narrow 8” wide strips which are easier to handle and customize to suit your job. The Beadboard strips come shaped on the edges and fit into one another very easily for a seamless and finished appearance once installed. Our Beadboard is installed prefinished with a white primer but still requires a coat of paint after installation. Once complete, it will accept any colour or paint, we Fill, Caulk and Sand any visible seams, corners and nail heads.
Sheet beadboard is also available. This is not the same as the material you’ll find at your local Big Box Store. Many sheet bead board products you find will be cut with a square saw blade of have very shallow grooves and beads cut into them. Our Bead board is the same thickness however it has a much deeper round bead which gives it a richer appearance when installed. This may not seem important until you paint, you may very well lose the bead if it is too shallow.
Our standard finished height for most installations is 40″ however it can easily be adjusted to any height up to 8 feet. Many of our customers desire a taller finished height for various rooms depending on the use of the room. The top of the bead board can also be finished with a variety of different Chair Rails and Plate Rails if you’d like to put decorations on top of the Beadboard.
Recently some of our homeowners have asked us to install BeadBoard on their ceilings as part of their Beamed Ceiling installation. We incorporate the Bead Board into each square and add crown moulding to the perimeter. It’s a bit different but it’s a trend that becoming very popular in Cottages and Country Style Homes in the Toronto GTA area.
