Waffled or Beamed Ceiling
Until now the only way to get the look of a Coffer or Waffled Ceiling in your home was to make it using wood strips or framing with wood and using drywall to cover it up. Both these methods can be quite expensive; explaining the reason you don’t see this ceiling treatment in all homes. Much like wainscoting, the coffer ceiling isn’t a wall treatment that is incorporated in most modern builder homes, mostly due to price.
Capital Columns now offers a less expensive alternative to the old way of doing things. New Manufacturing and Molding techniques have allowed us to form our own per-made coffer beams thus cutting down on labour and material costs. We can now offer an Upscale Custom Option at a reasonable price.
Our Design Consultants will work with you to create the best possible design for your ceiling using AutoCad. It’s quite common for them to come up with 3 or 4 different ceiling designs before determining the right fit with respect to symmetry and appearance. We will send you the finished design and after you approve, it’s only a short time to installation.
Before the beamed ceiling installation, the home owner must ensure that the ceilings have been smoothed, this will require removing the existing stucco from your ceiling. Capital Columns does not offer this service however we can cover the existing stucco using thin sheets of Masonite which can be painted over. We would recommend that all electrical (Pot lights etc.) has been completed prior to beam installation, this will help with determining the size and placement of the beams on the ceiling. Our goal is to maintain symmetry throughout the installation.

Once complete the ceiling is ready for a coat of paint, our waffled ceiling system is ready to paint only a few hours after our installers leave your home. Capital can also customize your beamed ceiling using one of our many Crown Moulding options, this will make your beams look grander and finished rather than just having bare beams installed. Other trims can be integrated into the beamed ceiling to make for a fancier ceiling look, our Design Consultants can answer any questions you may have regarding your ceiling.
